Hi,

I have two HP Laserjet 5si printers. Some of my users report that when they print, the format does not stay consistent from computer to computer, and even printer to printer. For instance, on one user's computer, the third point in a bulletin starts on page 2, whereas on user 2's computer, that same third point will show up on page 1. They print out this way also, even though the documents are identical (in some cases, the documents are identical on both computers until even the slightest change is made, such as deleting a few letters and retyping them to spell a word correctly. This will cause the format to change for some reason). Any ideas?

Win2k SP2
Corel WP SP4

Thanks,
Neil

Are all machines using the same printer drivers?

Are all machines / documents using the same font?

As far as I know, yes. However, I think there are still a few people that are using SP2 for WP, and I think that may be part of the problem. Is there a way to upgrade to SP4 for WP and keep all of my preferences (i.e. macro buttons, default file folders, etc)? SP4 necessitates that you uninstall all previous versions of WP, so I was wondering if there's some kind of file that holds all the preferences that you can save and re-insert into SP4.

Regarding installation of sp4, what I do know is;

C:\windows\.......\wp9us.wpt contains some of the settings. Macros (by default) are in C:\windows\applicationdata\Corel\perfectscript\9\wordperfect. We like to save them to a server drive so that they are backed up. Paper sizes are in the windows registry files.

I am not sure if this catches everything or not. We went from sp2 to sp4 in the first week after having went from WP6.1 to WP9.

Hope this helps

Don

Thanks for your help, I'll try to use this. Resetting paper sizes won't be a big deal, and we have our macros on the server to, but the less settings I have to go back in and change again the better. The macro buttons are the big headache, just because everyone has their own and they scream bloody murder if you change their interface one bit (it appears that changing the GUI in WP renders all of their WP knowledge useless. :)

One simple thing you can do is go to Tools, Settings, Environment and in the General tab uncheck "Reformat documents for the WordPerfect default printer on open" option. A slightly different printer driver may have been used on the two printers which would account for the reformatting.

I have a similar problem. All of a sudden the format of my documents change when I open them. If I choose printer and click on the same printer (under system printer) and close the printer selection, the document reformats to the correct state. This only happens on my computer. If I log onto another computer and select the same document, the formating is correct. I downloaded updated printer drivers. That didn't work. I recloned my computer (with a Ghost image I had from several months ago). That worked for about a week and then the problem started all over again. I am completely frustrated! Please help.
