Wordperfect Changes (C) to Copyright in Spell Check

I have the replace words as you type in Quick Correct un-checked . When I enter (C) it leaves it alone. However, when I run Spell Check it changes all of them to the copyright sign. How do I stop it from doing that. I don't want to remove the copyright sign from the Quick Correct list as I may need it at some point. I just don't want Spell Check to do it on its own.

Wordperfect is Release 12.0.0.391
