WordPerfect Service Pack 4 is "required" for any Win2k installation. You will have to obtain SP4 on a CD from Corel and do a complete uninstall of your previous version before installing it. See the Corel website for complete uninstall instructions.
Question for Don Klein: I run WP8 under W2k and everything works well except that all macros, even the simplest, take 4 seconds to start. I believe I have SP2. Which, if any, later SP does WP8 require under W2k?
I do not have any direct experience with WP8. C-techs in Corel's newsgroup will tell you the service pack 4 of WP9 includes substantive changes from previous versions in order to be compatible with Windows 2000. That would suggest that various problems will persist when running WP7 or WP8 on Windows 2000. I would upgrade to at least WP9 service pack 4.
