Anyone use Wordperfect?

I have had Corel 8 for some time and used to use it a few years ago,but have been using outlook express for correspondence. I need to use WP and typed up several things, but it won't save. I can print but can't save. I go to file & hit save. It asks for a specific file I go to it the save goes from muted to active but when I hit save. I can find it but when I try to open it, it brings up this message:
"This document (C:myfiles\doc etc.wpd)" (that is not the file -there is no word etc in the message-I am using that as an exapmle, because no matter where I name or put it, I get the same message) "is in use or specified as read only. You may edit this document but you must save it with a new name. Continue?' it doesn't matter if I save it with a new name,, it just the same groundhog thing all over. Anybody have any thoughts on this? thanks

What is the wp version? Click Help and then about. What is your windows version? You'll need wp8 patched fully to run it on winxp. It wasn't initially designed to run on xp.

Thanks khobson. I am using WP8 and have XP Home. Actually, I uninstalled WP8 and re installed and it is saving now. Tho i had to hirt it a few times, so maybe a good idea to get the "patch" How do I go about doing that?

Since wp8 is so old, Corel may not have the patches on their web site. Check out this site for more details.
