It's probably ripped CDs or CDs that should have been sold with new systems. It's unlikely that either will be "honored" by Corel when it comes to warrenty. Also, if it is ripped CDs it could have a virus.

I bought WordPerfect Office 2002 on eBay for a similar price. It is an OEM version and works fine but, according to Corel, it is an unauthorized copy. You will notice that the ads have words to the effect that there is no warranty for the hardware included. This is because this version of WordPerfect Office 2002 is (or was) to be included with the purchase of a computer. The tech I spoke with said sometimes the sellers will send a computer keyboard key or some other ridculous piece of hardward to satisfy this requirement. He used the term silver or silk screening, I think, to describe the process used in duplicating the CD and the sleeve. If you look at either, you think it actually came from Corel. The tech was made about this and thinks (and hopes) Corel will eventually find all sellers and prosecute. Big job, if you ask me, as they are alot of these versions for sale at $20-$25 on eBay and obviously at other sites also. So, if you want WordPerfect Office 2002 for a song, go to eBay or the site you refer to. Corel doesn't appear concerned about buyers - only selers. If you want a manual, you will have to buy that on your own. As you might imagine, Corel provides no support for these OEM versions. The last thought I have is that Corel ought to think about lowering their prices especially for upgrades. They have been losing the war to Microsoft Word even though, in my opinion, they have a superior product. However, when students (the leaders of tomorrow) can buy Microsoft Office for $30.00, WordPerfect days are probably numbered unless they become more competitive. Sorry, this is so long, but I get carried away when it comes to my favorite software (WP) which I have been using for over 15 years. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies.
Since we feel the same about WP would you have a try at my unanswered question in this forum? I've received several either long or complicated work-arounds in another WP forum, which while they work, are not worth the time to set up, as the time expended equals the time to handle the changes manually.

I have searched for your question about using quotations marks in WP index to see if I could be of help but I was unable to find your question. I went back as far as 100 days and looked in the How Do I and Troubleshooting forums. If you can be more specific, I will see if I can help.

I had a friend who used to work at WordPerfect, and he gave me a copy of WordPerfect at a tech show. I did not know it was an OEM copy. I called for Tech support, and you can't get tech support on an OEM copy. No one at WordPerfect suggested it was illegal to use the OEM copy; you just can't get tech support on the OEM copy. You have to have a full licensed copy to get tech support.

I have had friends who have purchased OEM copies, and they report they are fine.

I have sold computers and some software for years. The OEM versions of WordPerfect available to most people like myself are fine (assuming, of course, that they are originals, not pirated copies). I have used and sold them for years without problems. However, they do not come with support from Corel. You can understand that, given how inexpensive they are. But, if you encounter a serious problem, they do have pay support available.

I have used WordPerfect for about 17 or 18 years. I love it. I think that it is a much better product than that other one. I wish more people would see the light.

I did read recently that Corel had contracted with several major computer manufacturers to provide them with Office suites to be preinstalled on new PCs. Hopefully that will make them more competitive. BlackburnKL

I bought one and it's supported.
Even included Dragon on a separate cd.
