Word97 will not inform printer out of paper until next print job

Does anyone else experience this ? Our users print documents with hundreds of pages so this is very annoying. They'll print one document ... Word won't notify the user the printer ran out of paper. Only when they print something else from Word does it decide to inform the user.

This does not happen on any other applications on our Win95 Pc's.

Hi!
I shouldn't post this as I'm only guessing, but only a naughty app would inform the user about printing problems - that's the spooler's job. I'd be tempted to experiment with the Word spool settings (Tools/Options, select Print Tab and uncheck the background printing checkbox.)
