Word97 page numbering 2

I have set up a template that numbers the pages x of y. When I return to the document the page numbers have reset to x of 1.... for example 10 of 1, 20 of 1. Is there any way of changing this? I have many documents doing the same thing and even after I format the page numbering, it persists.

Hi

This seems to be a problem of word - I have had it also. However there is no need to worry. When you print your documents it will show up correctly and whats more after printing, the screen numbers will be correct also.
