word97 not translating character correctly

I was wondering if anyone can tell me why word97 will not display certain characters in my file correctly? They are ascii chr(168) & chr(180). Any help would be great.

I am using the barcode 128c font which works fine in excel and on foxpro reports but word actually changes some of the characters.
