One of my users says this used to work for him and doesn't any more.

Recieving data from an outside source in a Paradox table, the table is made the data source for a Word97 mail merge. The Value Pak is installed, so the data is read in okay. With the View Merged Data button turned off, he clicks Tools->Mail Merge.
The Main Document and Data Source values appear fine, but in step 3 (Merge the data with the document) he clicks Query Options to isolate certain records.

After the status bar displays "Starting MSQuery", "Initiating DDE link with MSQuery", and "Opening data source in MSQuery", the error comes back "Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Query to complete the current task"
There are no quotes in the table name, and the sort field is an Alpha of 18 chars.

As a temporary measure, I'm having him import the data into Access97, but that's an extra step he claims he didn't have to do before. Any ideas of what's missing/wrong?

OS? On NT, there's a not widely known issue if you're saving the mailmerge main doc as a template--so save it as a doc for now. That's about all the info I have, tho..

And I thought I was being complete... :)
It's running under Windows 95. The document is a .DOC file, and as far as I know, no templates (.DOT) are involved.
The Paradox table is under version 5.
