This contest is to identify plural words that you make singular by adding the letter "y".

Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'.

Sorry, Dr. Java. The rule on this game is start with a plural word and just add the letter "y" to make it singular. If you add a "y" to "ladies", you get "ladiesy" or "yladies", neither of which works.

LBass gets a star for going plural to singular by adding a "y". If I open up the candidate words to include proper nouns, can someone think of another?

Chris,

Nice attempt...but...No: must start plural and go singular by adding "y". If I could, you would receive a 2.5-pointed star. [wink]

Lothario,

Another nice attempt, but it must be grammatically correct to count: unless we are talking about StarTrek's Borg or HRH Queen Elizabeth (a sovereign),
Code:
[white]"ourself" is incorrect; it must be "ourselves" to be plural; "ourself" is singular,[/white]
thus lying outside the qualifications for this particular situation. Great effort, however !

If I could have just one I wouldn't be Tipsy :)

[white]Regarding ours -> yours,
'Yours' is only singular and plural because English has dropped the singular thou, thee, thy, thine. 'Yours' otherwise would retain its exclusively plural nature. For that matter, even in modern English it's not exclusively singular![/white]
