I've asked this question in "Access: Other Topics", but maybe this forum would've been more appropriate:

It's a question about converting stuff from Word to Access. I've got a Word file with lines like:

YYY, ZZZZZZZZZZZZ CR
YYY, ZZZZZZZZZZZZ CR
YYY, ZZZZZZZZZZZZ CR
...

I'd like to take the respective data: first word ( second word (XXX), etc. from MS Word and store it as a new record in an Access table.

I guess, that should be pretty basic stuff. But I haven't worked with this before. And don't feel like re-inventing the wheel. Big thanks in advance!!!

Hi,

You seem to have spaces AND a comma as 'item' delimiters.
(i.e. you have items seperated by spaces, but one item also has a comma).

Copy the word document text and paste it into a notepad and save it.

You must strip all commas from this (this will leave the existing space only).

Run Access -> File -> Get External Data -> Import.
Change 'Files of Type' drop-down to .txt.
Select your text file.

In the wizard, look for 'DELIMITER' and choose 'SPACE'.

The reason that you deleted the comma, is that you cant have 2 'delimiters' (seperators), which you currently have in your Word document.
