Recently my ** remote users ** have been reporting sluggish performance in MS Word. Specifically they are seeing slow save and cut-and-paste times.

For example, saving a single page file takes upwards of 15 seconds. The file size is only 24k. Compare that to saving a 24k file from notepad taking no more than 5 seconds.

The users are using Win XP Pro SP2 with all recent service packs, Office 2003 SP2, and running over a DSL line to our file server. The DSL line is rated at 3.0Mbps down and 384kbps up and has been running smoothly for years.

Here's the added twist... We upgraded the main office to a full T1 so our users have faster acces to the file server. And at the same time a bunch of critical Windows Updates have been applied.

I've spent a considerable amount of time testing the network to see if the T1 is causing unusual communication errors. Nothing has become apparent here.

So... Has anyone else seen this sort of trouble?

Thanks,
Jason
