Word Saving files as read only

Hello,
Since we changed into WinXp Pro/Office2000 (before it was W2K/office2000) Most of the word files that are saved on the server (NT4 server) seems to be written as read only.
Whenever the users open these files again they cannot save it under the same name...
This becomes very annoying since they only work with the files that are on that fileserver.(talking about +1000 documents here)
it was not like this before we changed their machines and nothing is changed on the server.. the office installation is a complete pro installation ..

Are you sure that it's saving as read only? Or is it opening as read only? See if this MSKB article describes your situation:
