(a) I have a word document that links to a database and
displays some customer information at the top of it.

(b) At the bottom of this word document, I need the
customer to be able to fill in the data and send
back to me.

What I don't want the customer to do is, to be able to modify any fields that I have retreived from the database (a).

How would I go about doing this?

Thanks.

It depends on exactly how you are placing the data in a).

Just to elaborate of that...which is why I was asking how you were placing the data in a).

If your data a) is inserted into bookmarks (NOT formfields) then you can contain as protected from edits. If they ARE inserted as formfield data then the user will have access.

Now for b) you DO use formfields. The user can input data there.

When a document is protected for forms ONLY the formfields are editable. So you want to put your a) data in a non-formfield structure.
