I'm building a Flash5 web site and the client wants the ability to input and update data. I'm trying to avoid a serverside database and instead utilize a word processor or other utility that will allow the user to create the input in "plain english" and save as html. I'm aware that there are issues regarding Microsoft Word in this context...any suggestions.

Thanks - David

hmmm...

My experience of importing text from MS Word to Flash is that you end up with a large amount of html tags scattered through your page (if exported as html) or formatted weirdly (if done as plain text).

Have you considered having a form for the user to input information and load this into a text file using asp, cgi, Javascript or any other language you like and then have the flash movie read the variables in from the text file.

There are some good tutorials about this at:

(I tried to find the exact address but their server was down) just search through for "text file" or something similar.

HI

The simplest method would be for the user to save their text as a plain old *.txt file. Then use the loadVariable action along with a dynamic text box to show the text.
