Word/Outlook text cursor moving

Afternoon chaps,

Strange one here. I have a problem where when typing text the cursor jumps up 3 or four lines and you end up retyping over text already there. I have virus checked the PC, patched the office xp software but still no joy.

Any ideas.

are you possibly using a laptop with an eraser mouse in the middle of the keyboard?

I use a thinkpad and it has both a touchpad and an eraser mouse.. but the damn thing would always get in the way when I was typing.. so I ended up disabling it in the control pannel...

If its not that...

I'd be interested in what kind of mouse you have (optical?) drivers... mousing surface?

Yes it does have a touchpad and we did actually think it could be that. Strangley enough there is no option to disable in windows. Can this be done in the Bios?
