I am having trouble troubleshooting a Word document that has a bunch of tables and inserted objects. I have no idea how or where these objects came from or how they were brought in to the doc. The objects are just doing strange things, like floating on top of each other, hiding behind a page, etc. It is like they are completely unmanageable. I am trying to play around with the positioning but I am not able to change the positioning to "in line with text" because it is greyed out. Can anyone give me some ideas to try? Is anyone willing to just take a quick look to see what is going on?

On a side note, is it normal not to see objects in Normal view? I can only see them if I go to page layout view.

Thank you,

Dawn

You will probably find that the document you are looking at is a summary of numerios document and possibly spreadsheets you will have to talk to the auther of the document to find which other documents are involved or search the document to find which and where the other documents are held

Hope this helps

No, I am sorry Hymn, I am not quite sure what you are saying. Are you saying that the document has a bunch of linked documents from elsewhere? I am pretty sure it isn't the case. It has a bunch of tables that look like they were inserted as an object and not a table. (they act like tables but have the boarder like an object) Can anyone please take a look at my file? I have fixed most of the issues but there are a couple of tables/objects that I can't figure out. I have changed the positioning, the anchor, the overlap and nothing fixes them. I even have one table that I checked the box to allow the rows to break accross the page but the table still sits on one page with it appearing as if it is so long that it is hidden behind the next page. Please help.

Nevermind, I think I figured most of these out. And there wasn't one answer. For instance, this guy had copied a worksheet from Excel and then pasted it into a text box in word. LOL the things people do! On top of that, they had used cells as spaces or indents in Excel so now as a table in word the columns didn't line up so it was really hard to resize columns. I finally asked him for the excel sheet and I just copied it and then did a paste special (as Microsoft Excel Object) and it looks great and can be moved and resized no problem.

Thanks!
