I am building various word merge documents and have fields like "final_amount". Some of my clients want there to be a statement such as "If you cancel within 30 days of the event, you are charged a cancellation fee of 50% of the final amount [insert the actual calculation here]".

I can't seem to figure out how to do a calculation against a merge field. Is it even doable?

I appreciate any help you can give a Word Merge newbie!

Thanks!

Man plans. God laughs.

What's your data source? Excel? If so, why not have a calculated amount in Excel as a field, and then reference that in your merge...
