I don't know what to call the function I attempt to describe below or I probably could have found it in Word's Help.

Someone gave me a Word document to use as a template for my own. The document has their company name and a horizontal rule at the top, as well as a horizontal rule and "Page x of 2" on the bottom of every page. These items are not obviously editable in the document I have.

What is this called and how do I put my own company name in place of the other name?

Word 2002 SP3

Thank you!

Hi ixodid,

The document you're referring to evidently has a header & footer. You can access these in the document you received by double-clicking on either the header or footer content. For a document lacking a header or footer, you can access the header/footer areas via View|Header and Footer.

Cheers
