word error szmodname: hungapp, then locks up

I have a user that keeps getting a MS Office Word error message. She has Windows XP and 2003 Office Professional.
It says is is a Signature Error - szAppName: Windword.exe szAppVer: 11.0.8169.0 szModName: hungapp szModVer: 0.0.0.0. Once she gets the error, Word locks up. It does not seem to be specific to any one document.

I have tried reinstalling office, Running MS Office and Windows updates. But, it still keeps coming up

WHat happens if you start Word in Safe Mode? From Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Does Word work OK now?
