word documents very slow to open!

Hi there,

I'm having problems with several Word 2003 documents that are taking several minutes to open. I think the problem may be related to the template they are using.

So I can test this, is it possible to change the template of an existing document without copying and pasting the contents into a new document?

Yes. Tools > Templates and Addins. Click the Attach button and select a different template.
