Word Document Printing Blank Pages

Hi all

Was sharing a brew with a friend last night and he told me of a problem that he had been asked to check out for another friend of his that had him stumped.

It seems that a three page Word document (the guy's resume) will always print page one but pages two and three always come up blank. This happens regardless of order of print, single page prints, etc. Print Preview shows full text in the last two pages. The last symptom, which is screaming to me that 'it's in the document', is that the printer is just not executing a form feed and ejecting a piece of paper, but is actually moving the print head and paper as if it was truly printing. Unfortunately, I don't have the document, but could get it if need be.

The OS is WinXP and my friend didn't remember the Word version but thought it was 6.0.

So has anyone run into this before? Am I right in that it's in the document and if so, what exactly is triggering this? I found a couple possible items in the MSKB but since I don't have the document, their relevance is unknown and I wanted to ask the users on here as well before I sent back my findings to my friend.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

I had a user with a similar problem. We selected the entire document and pasted it into a new document and it printed correctly. It might be worth a try.

Sounds like it is something like a "set print area" setting problem on that document to me. I don't think there is one built in Word, but I know there is one in Excel.

Sounds like someone changed the "set print area" setting on that document to me. I don't think there is one built in Word, but I know there is one in Excel.

I hate when it double posts like that, b/c of browser messing up..

The reason it is doing that is because you have too many blanks lines after your last line. this is how you fix it.

put the cursor at the very end of your document, and hold the Delete key and it will erase all the blank lines you have at the end of your document. That will also take away the blank page.
