A newer version will ot help you. However you should check your settings in Distiller - launch Distiller/Settings menu.

Unless the pdf is destined for commercial printing, the default Print setting gives good resultsfor both screen and general printing. If necessary you can up the document dpi on the first screen you get under Settings. You're usually best off not using anything like Smallest possible as that take a good bit of info from the pdf file. If you're strictly looking at screen display, you can use the Screen setting

You should also try to use decent fonts, like the ones that came with your computer and/or Word as opposed to free web downloads or fonts contained on cheapy font collection. Very often these are missing some information that detracts from their performance. Unless you're going to commercial print, you can usually stick with truetypre fonts. They'll look good on screen and print fine. If you use Type one, they might appear jagged on the pdf on screenm though they will print fine.

One last thing is monitor quality. I've seen cheaper flat panels pixelate like crazy when a doc is blown up beyond its norman size. This can happen on desktop and notebook displays. Usually the more something is zoomed, the more jagged it gets.
