Word doc size problem

I have been sent a word doc which ios 4 pages in length, yet 23MB in size.
I have viewed it and it just contains text.
However, when I click on the scroll bar on the side it says that it is page 77 of 80.
Why is this.

The first thing I would try is to copy and paste all the text into a new blank document and save it, then see if the page count and MB size has changed. My guess is that it will.....

What's in it, lamaar? Pictures?

Try cutting each picture. Hit Edit-Paste special-As a picture.

Try saving the file in Rich Text Format (RTF), then save it back in Word format.

If that don't work, copy all but the last line of your document and paste it into a new document. The retype the last line.
