I converted a Word document to an HTML file and used Frontpage 2000 to link it to my website. The HTML file is large, however I am able to view this file on most machines without a problem, some machines will not dispaly the page. I cleared out the history in the problem machines and this did work on some, but not on others. Does anyone have any other Suggestions?

I find it works better to Insert the Word document as a file as opposed to converting it.

All the XML garbage does not come along for the ride then.

Insert > File

Thank You for the response, However this is not a viable solution. The file needs to be part of the website which includes all the headers, footers and links associated.

Perhaps you have a problem with the colors? You didn't mention colors, but perhaps some computers, using only root colors, can't see the colors that you chose for the document. (This is what's called "grasping at straws")

Probably jumping in a little late here, but thought I'd throw some ideas into the mix :)

Exporting a Word document to HTML format results in a pretty chunky file, full of XML, as Mike mentioned above. This may cause problems for older browsers that are incapable of parsing XML. MSIE5 handles XML but currently still renders it via CSS, using a largely HTML-derived model, so not all the stylesheet options work. Netscape (not sure about 6) does not have any support for XML (as far as I know - I could be wrong).

Some things to try - what version/type of browsers are having problems? Are they displaying anything at all (partial content, content without formatting) or nothing at all (try View Source and see if they are recieving the content).

Also you mentioned in your second post "headers, footers and links associated" - how are you including these in the page ie have you edited them in FrontPage or through some include method? This may also be related to the problem, it might be worth testing the HTML file without these elements and seeing what happens.
