Word disappears when multiple documents are minimized

My friend has this problem. If they open up 2 or more MS Word XP documents and minimize them they disappear without any warning or leftover. Basically once the windows are minimized and she clicks one or the other or both they just vanish and WINWORD isn't even running in the Task Manager. Anybody seen this? (Office XP & WinXP Home)
