Word, deletion of text

Using word 2003

can someone tell me why sometimes I can edit a doc and it wants to delete text/spaces to the right of where I am typing. how is it resolved?

Use the Insert key to toggle between Insert and Overwrite; sounds like you've accidentally managed to get into Overwrite mode

yes cheers, I have seen it happen very occasionally, it must have occured as you said
