Hi,
I'm trying to do the following in Word 2003:
[1]Format a series of references using a numbered list so that each item is automatically given the next sequential number in square brackets at the start (as I have done here).
[2]Cross-reference only the actual number from the paragraph number, ie not including the square brackets.
The reason is that, while I can easily refer to the whole bracketed number when cross-referencing a single reference, I need to be able to generate cross-references to multiple references, eg [1,2]. So I want to refer just to the appropriate numbers (and then I can put the square brackets round manually in the cross-reference). But I can't select just the number in order to bookmark it, so I'm a bit stuck.
All suggestions gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Katie
