Word causes Windows 2000 to lock up

Whenever I use Word, after several minutes it causes my machine running Windows 2000 to lock up. I cannot even use ctl-alt-del. The only solution is to do a hard boot. The machine came wiht Office 2000. I uninstalled that and installed Office XP. Thinking that might be the problem, I uninsalled that and re-installed 2000. Both versions cause the system to freeze.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

If it's after several minutes, it may be the video driver. Try updating your video driver from the manufacturer's web site.

If Word 2000 is having problems with your video driver, then Word 2002 will have worse problems.
