Hi,

I using MS Word automation in a VB6 application to perform spell-checking on certain words. If the word is spelt correctly everything works as I'd like, however if the word is not spelt correctly my application displays the suggestions dialog.

Is there any way of turning this dialog box off?

TIA,

Ed Metcalfe.

why do you want to turn it off?

how will the user then select or ignore the spelling mistake?

ADoozer,

The system takes a string of letters and tests each possible permutation of these letters to see whether it is a genuine word.

The system is only checking for spelling mistakes to see whether the specified string of characters is a genuine word or not. If it is then it is appended to a listbox, otherwise the system ignores it.

It sounds to me like you might be better off downloading one of the many public domain word lists for , rather than trying to use a spelling checker

strongm,

Sounds like a very good idea. Especially as I've discovered that MS Word's dictionary contains a lot of entries for nonexistent words!

Thanks,

Ed.
