I have created a form in Word, is it possible to copy the contents of some fields to other parts of the document, automatic, preferably as it is imput.

The basic answer is - yes, it can be. A few more details would help. When you say you created a form, are you using formfields (textbox, checkbox, drop down), or actual field codes like {SEQ} and {REF}?

To have a code running so that it is constantly updating (as the user types input) is very possible, but not usually a good idea. It means it is always loaded, even though you may not be doing anything with it - say when you are NOT typing in input.

Perhaps a UserForm may be a better idea. Have the users input what they need to, then simply update all your fields with their input all at once.

The document at present uses formfields, would it be better to use field codes?
The document has a front page where most of the basic data is contained, some but not all is copied to 4 other pages. It does not need to be transferred instantly, end of imputting will do.
The Userform sounds ok, but I haven't had call to use them before
I also need to do a calculation based on one of the fields, am I asking too much of Word?

You certainly are not asking too much of Word to do what you seem to want. It is not difficult.

I would recommend using a VBA form to get all your info from the user, do your calculation(s) and dump the result into your formfields - wherever they are in the document.

If you haven't made a UserForm before, try Help in the VBA editor. It is not bad. If you need some specific help, give a call back in here. If you get really stuck, I could send a simple example - but you really should try it out yourself first.

Thanks for that, hopefully I just needed pointing in the right direction
