Word attempts to close word object 1

I am creating word documents programmatically from within Access. While the program is busily generating documents I open Word from the desktop. Now I go to close the desktop Word and it wants to close all the word objects I got going on in the program. I thouhgt since I was creating an instance of the word program programatically this would be separate from the desktop word getting open.

What am I missing? Do I have to tell the users don't use Word will the program is running?

Based on what I've run into here: yep, that's what you'll have to tell them.

How do you open word from the desktop ?
Doubleclicking a word document ==> same instance of word used
Clicking the word executable icon ==> new instance of word should be launched
