Does anybody know why this is happening please?

The original template & document are on an NT4 server at one site and are emailed as attachments to users on another site. If a user who does not have an account on the NT4 server tries to open the doc it takes 20-30 seconds. Investigation has shown that the original document and template are accessed when the file is opened. This happens both when the file is attached via the paperclip tool in outlook and when it's sent via the send option in Word. We're using Exchange Server 2003 and Office/Outlook 2003.

TIA

Hi,

Why WHAT is happening? What's the problem?

I can't see how the original file IS accessed by a user via an attachment when that user has no login account, unless you have a very lax security system on the NT4 box.

If they save the attachments locally, then open them - what happens then?

How is this possible??? If the person does NOT have an account, then how can they access the original?
