Word and Excel are Slow since Update 1

I updated XP with that SP1 update. And ever since then Word and Excel are having problems. When I try to save or close one of the programs it takes an unusual amount of time to save or close. Does anyone know what to do? and I hope you dont say to re-install that update because I have dial up and it took 4 hours

Make sure it is not a problem with any Verisign certificates that have expired.
