word 97 on 2000pro memory errors

I have on user who is altering an imported document. The original document is fine but when they remove tables from it to place in a new document, the new document becomes corrupt. the erro message

the instruction "0x301dae31" referenced memory at "Ox0076300" the memory could not be "read"

Click ok to terminate program
Click on Cancel to debug the program

debuging closes the document and when you it claims that the document is in use and do you want to make a copy.

very confused any help please
