I want to insert a clip art graphic image into a Word table cell. I want to use Insert/Autotext. The image inserts above the table, rather than where I want it in the cell. Is there some secret??? TIA

Before creating your autotext (and in order for a graphic to be placed inside a table), you must format your picture to NOT be float-over-text. You can cut the picture, hit Edit-Paste special, as a Picture, and remove the float over text option. Or use the Format Picture command and remove that option on the Position tab.

That did it...thank you, thank you. You are indeed a dreamboat. I had a feeling it was something simple...once you know how.

Wait 'til you work with 2000. They removed the "float-over-text" and when it's NOT "on top of text", it's called "in line with text" and it's now a text-wrapping feature instead of a position.

I just cancelled an order for 2000 and XP...I had this dream and an old man with a white beard said "don't do it".

My daughter is running into problems with clients who have been convinced that 2000 is the way to go. I guess I'm just chicken. I have found Word 97 really lousy on the mail label program...your advice is helping me write a macro to create shipping labels with a logo included. Thanks again.

Oh, wish you had asked. The EASY way:

Let's say you're creating return mailing labels. Create mailing labels just like you would any others with Tools-Env & labels. Where you want your graphic inserted, just type the word "graphic" without the quotes. Enter other text as desired. Hit New Document button.

Then, copy your graphic that does not have the float-over-text property on it (from another doc or before you do the labels thing), and hit Find "graphic" (no quotes) and replace with: hit More-Special-Clipboard contents. Replace all. Then save it as a template called MyLabels.dot (or whatever). Close it. When you want to use it, just hit File-New and double-click it.

Forgot to mention, this is for printing single shipping labels...I realize that for regular labels, you can also use the {includepicture} method, but Word handles single labels poorly. Thanks again.
