Word 97: Document Read Only Error

Hello,

I Have a network running Netware 5.1 with SP3, I have found this problem myself. I was logged in as Admin, and I opened a word doc in word 97. I then changed the document and tried to re-save it, but an error came up saying that the file was read only! But I checked and the file wasn't read only nor was the directory it was in (or any other directory). I could save the document with another name.

As anybody come across this problem??

Try:

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF

on your server. This doesn't require a reboot, but put it in STARTUP.NCF so if the server is rebooted it keeps the setting. -----------------------------------------------------

HI.

I had similar problems when the directory name had non-ASCII characters . (I'm working in Israel and folders sometimes have Hebrew file names).

I don't know if it is your case, but you can try changing the folder name to something more compatible.
