I have a real weird one. One of my clients has sent me a 103 page report that is experiencing some issues.

For one, it has 16 section breaks and yet there are 21 sections. For whatever reasons at various chapter changes there is an invisible section break and it is here that i have the problems (see attachment).

Whilst the footer reference to the chapter name appears on page 67, it does not appear on page 69 even though the code is there. This also happens at another spot in the report.

It then fails to show the figure caption on page 70 in the table of contents.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before, and if so was there a solution.

Regards
David

How do you know the document "has 16 section breaks and yet there are 21 sections"? There is nothing in your attachment to indicate anything of the kind. I see a Secion numbered 17, which confirms the presence of 16 Section breaks.

As for the page numbers, is the page layout for the Section in which unnumbered page appears the same as the previous Section? Is its footer configured as 'same as previous'?

Hi Paul, I did a search for section breaks using the ^b character and it found 16, however, when you look at the last page's footer it says section 21.

The thing I can't work out is that in the image I provided there is no section break between sections 16 and 17.

In Print layout view, Section breaks that have been positioned at the end of a line sometimes cannot readily be seen. Switching to Draft view should reveal them.
