Hi All;

I have a question about protecting a form in Word 2010. There are 2 sets of user of the form.

1) Company Employees
2) Suppliers

I'd like to have sections of the form restricted from the suppliers so that they can not modify it. I'd also like the Employees to be able to edit all fields if needed (not to thrilled by this, but whatever).

I've reviewed this website and attempted to follow the direction, but something isn't working.

Steps I've taken:

1) Highlight specific fields
2) Go to developer tab and click restrict form
3) Under Edit restrictions select fillingin forms
4) click select sections..
5) Window pops up with Section 1, Section 2, Section 3 all checked

What are the check boxes in step 5?

What needs to be editable by employees:
All field values (not the actual form layout or text)

What needs to be editable by suppliers:
Limited field values and check boxes

How can I accomplish this goal?

Thanks for the assistance,

Mike

Word's "Filling in Forms" protection does not allow you to differentiate between users - it's an all or nothing affair. To do that, you would need to use the "No changes (read only)" editing restrictions and specify which employees can edit the portions that suppliers cannot. Note that this kind of protection does not work with formfields - only with content controls.

Thanks Paul. I was afraid of that.

Have a good one.
