I apologize if this is the wrong forum; I couldn't find one dedicated to font issues and think this may be a Microsoft issue rather than Extensis.
I'm the art director at a publishing company and we've been working really hard to get all 10 of our Production Dept font libraries to match. We seem to have it nailed down with the exception of Microsoft Office. Unfortunately, we have stand-alone licenses for Suitcase Fusion, not the server version, but it might not matter anyway.
We permanently activate our necessary font sets, but when we launch Word or Excel (the only Office programs we use regularly), about 200 fonts automatically change from Permanently Activated to Auto-Activated. They're still active, but after a system restart, they will be deactivated. We don't want Word or Excel to be deactivating or changing active fonts.
I worked with our IT guy this morning and we cleaned up the fonts folders. Suitcase is managing Local and User system fonts. We're running OSX 10.4.11, Suitcase Fusion 12.1.7 and Word:mac 2008 12.2.9. They are all PowerPCs – none of the systems are Intel. Not sure what other info you might need.
Where does Microsoft look for fonts? Why would it change an already-active font to temporarily active? Would it make any difference if the fonts were moved out of the Vault and into, say, the User Font folder?
TIA
Charlotte
