I purchased Office 2007 pro some 4 months ago, had been using Office 2003, what a difference. First question: when I select a place to save something or open something I used to just click the open or save in drop down to find that location now I get a message that folders are being "initialized", then it takes forever to locate my storage place. I usualy give up and click my computer on the left side for a far faster way to locate folders. Why is this??
Second question: Is there a way to get back the more understandable menu and tool bar at the top, I did find a way to get some of the programed at the top but not what I am used to. I did this by choosing "customize .....

Re question 1: Are the folders being "initialized" or "indexed"? I've never had that problem but I have indexing turned on on my computer. What operating system are you using?

Is your Office 2007 up-to-date as far as service packs and patches are concerned?

Have you tried running the Office Diagnostics? Click on the Office button, select "Resources", and then select "run Microsoft Office Diagnostics".

Re question 2: The "customization" (aka Quick Access Toolbar) is the closest that you will get to the old style menu. There are add-ons (cost a small amount) that you install to get the 2003 menus back but nothing native.

Most of the keyboard shortcuts are still the same and I mainly use those.

Hope this helps.
