Word 2007 - Print Options brings up Windows Options screen 1

Hello,

In Word 2007, if you choose the Print option from the Office button, you will get a dialog screen with options/buttons. Choosing the "Options" button brings up the Microsoft Word Options screen, not the Print Options Screen. (In Word 2003 for example, this would have brought up printer options rather then Word options.)

Excel and Access seem to bring up the correct windows. (albeit in different ways.)

Anyone know if this is a known bug?

I am not 100% sure I understand what youre saying, but I have machines with 2003 and machines with 2007 and both seem to work properly to me. Clicking the Options button in the Print dialog box brings up choices I can make about printing. They are both Word dialog boxes.

If I want to check out choices provided by my printer, I click Properties.

On our Word 2007 Machines, the print dialog box has an options button, but pressing that does not bring up choices about printing, but rather, the same dialog box you would get if you chose the "Word Options" button from Word's Office Button.

I see what you mean. This is a consequence of the bizarre way that options are organised in Word 2007 and I don't think there is much you can do about it.

In earlier versions, pressing Options in the Print dialogue would bring up the Options dialogue with just the Print tab and that had all the print options on it.

In Word 2007, some print options are on the Word Options Display tab, and some are on the Advanced tab; there isn't a Print tab any more. When you press Options in the Print dialogue, it brings up the Word Options dialogue with the Display tab preselected but with all the other tabs available so that you do have access to all the options.

This is not a bug; it is Word 2007 working as designed. I suppose one could argue that it is a bug in the design but it wouldn't achieve anything.

As everything is discoverable in Word 2007's UI it is, of course, easy to find the options you want.
