I am using Word 2007 and Excel 2007

I want to copy/paste special from Excel to Word - 5 columns of data and a large number of rows (150+). Inserting as an Object doesn't work.

I am successful copying the data from Excel, paste special, selecting link using RTF in Word.

The initial paste works perfectly.

When I modify the Excel spreadsheet and open the Word document containing the link I am prompted to update links and I respond Yes, upon completion I look at the Word document and I have a second set of Excel data (table).

Is there anyway to use paste special, select link as an RTF and have the table (one set of data) update on entry to Word?
Do you have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

Thank you

Hi kabrice,

Your problem description suggests you have 'Track Changes' set to 'on'.

Thank you for your reply - Track Changes is turned off

Hi kabrice,

Any cross-references in the document - especially to text either side of the linked table?

Thank you for the reply.

The only contents in the Word document is the linked Excel data, so there shouldn't be a problem with cross-references.

I continued to experiment and selected HTML instead of RTF from the Paste Special dialog (still selecting Paste link). The data does update without duplication.
