Hello-

I need to make a quick change for everyones word 2007 that requires that the word count feature include footnotes.

Whre can I make such change that will affect all users in my office?

Thanks for your help.

Hi hmdeassis,

The Word Count 'Include textboxes, endnotes and footnotes' option applies at the document level only. In other words, for a given user, it can be different for different documents. There is no setting that can make it apply to all documents or all users. Conversely, if the setting has been activated in a given document, it should be remain that way when the same document is opened by another user.

You could make it the default setting for new documents by modifying the 'Normal' template, but that wouldn't affect existing documents.

Thanks for the info

How do I apply such setting in the normal.dot template?

Hi hmdeassis,

The usual way would be to open the 'Normal' template, change the 'Include textboxes, endnotes and footnotes' setting, then save & close the 'Normal' template.

Do note that this change would have to be made to every user's 'Normal' template - easy enough to do if everyone is using the same 'Normal' template, but if your users have their own 'Normal' templates that they've customised, you'd need to do it on a per-user basis.

Cheers
