Word 2007 formatting

Hello All:
I open up word start typing a paper, just type away and then go thru and make corrections. Sometimes I will save it and come back later. The problem I have (and I did this both ways) is when I double space the lines it breaks it in places I do not want broke. There is no periods, tabs (as far as I know)they just break I go into show codes but not sure how to read the formatting. Help???

What do you mean by "the lines it breaks it in places"? Are you double line spacing by using Format, Paragraph, Line Space = Double?

Every time you hit the ENTER key, you are making a NEW PARAGRAPH.

Hit the ENTER key twice in a row; now you have TWO paragraphs, the SECOND one, with no text.

As tf1 suggested, use Paragraph Formatting. Better yet, create and use Styles.
