Has anybody had problems with the Outlining toolbar repeatedly disappearing?

I have had this problem with and without Adobe loaded as an Add-in. The other toolbars remain on the Normal layout, it is just the Outlining toolbar. My fix has been to create a custom toolbar with the Outlining buttons. This has been very irritating when working on various different computers.

Does anybody have any other solutions? Thanks for the help.

By the way you describe the problem, it could be that your Normal.dot is going bad and it's not retaining toolbar changes. You don't mention what version of Word you have. You can try the following if you have Word 2003. I don't know how these instructions change if you have Word 2007. I'm also assuming you don't have some kind of script running on startup that resets your toolbars. I have one of those at work.

1. Close Word if you have it open.
2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<<user>>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. Move the Normal.dot to another place like your desktop. This way, it won't get pulled when you open Word.
3. Open Word. It creates a new Normal.dot
4. Do whatever you want with the outlining toolbar.
5. Close Word. Then, re-open Word. It should remember your changes.

If that fixed your problem all you need to do now is move macros, personal toolbars, and Autotext to the new NOrmal from the old one.

Let us know if you need help with that.
