Hey all.

Got a bit of a wierd one here. I maintain a suite of word docs (actually its about 200).

All the files seem fine in 2000/2002/2007 - however it seems that 2003 says that some of the documents are corrupt and i cant work out how to fix them. I have even tried a tool (which screwed up all the formatting of a complex document) and creating a new document and inserting the the old doc (insert>file) - unfortunately the new document still has the issue.

I am out of ideas what to try?

HELP!

Forgot to mention it has Office SP2 on it already (which apparently solves a similar issue).

Have you tried the Open and Repair option? It is attached to the OPEN button in the File, Open dialog.

That didnt work - but if anyones interested, i think i found the solution here:

But wierdly enough it doesnt seem like just the service pack is needed - you have to follow the registry entry steps as well (as these machines have either sp2 or sp3 on already).

But as soon as i did this entry - all is fine.

Thank you for asking the question. Linney's answer made me aware of the registry hack!
