Using Office XP Pro (Word 2002) with SP1/SP2 - Win98se workstations on an NT40 network. Saving files to the network drives.
I've had at least 6 to 8 reported incidents in the last few days.
User creates or edits an existing document. Clicks Save to save the changes and gets an error something like "problem encountered; closing Word and attempting to recover document". Word then closes. Upon reopening Word, either before or after a reboot - the document is blank. The file is there - but it is 0 bytes - and completely blank.
In the case of a document that is being created - it's a complet loss, nothing to go back to. In the case of a document being edited there is usually a ~.tmp file that can be opened - but is the original version, all changes lost.
Sorry, I do not have the exact syntax - so far I've heard all the details after the fact. (someone screaming down the hallway is a dead giveaway).
Anyone seen or heard of this?
