Hi. Anyone know if there is a way to change the size of the pipe that appears when changes are made in a document?

Track changes is fine, ballons are turned off, so only the pipe appears, and changes are in red.

Was wondering if there is any way to increase the size of, change the color of, and possible bold the size of the pipe?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi KristieLee,

I was wondering why no one has answered yet. As I'm no native English speaker, I didn't answer in the first hand because I wondered about the meaning of "pipe". I did not bother to look it up. I just assume that you refer to the line appearing in the page margin of a document when Word tracks change(s) to it.

In my current Word2000 changes are tracked in red, but the line is black. But a click on Tools > Options shows why.

On the "Track Changes" tab there are four blocks, each with two drop-downs on the left and a preview on the right. In the fourth block you can change the appearance of what I assume you mean with "pipe". The second drop-down allows to choose the colour.

In my current Word2002 this is set to "automatic" which turns out to be black even if the changes in the text are tracked in red (what I think is not logical). But I can change the colour of the line to red.

HTH.

All this does is allow you to change the location of the pipe, which is the notation that says a change was made (you are correct in your assumption). it doesn't allow me to change the size, which is my issue. We have someone that finds it hard to see that little line, and would like either a circle or some sort of different shape that they could see easier. Any ideas on that?

Hi KristieLee1,

I'm very sorry, no, I've no idea.

The only thing coming into my head is: would changing the font of your text make the line thicker?

But I also assume that you must not change the font of the text. Because to me it seems that you work for a lawyer (or some other peculiar person) who causes your problem.

As I am a "real" technical user in the terms of this forum, I must pass this problem to those "really" knowing.

Sorry again.

Markus.

I found your question quite interesting. I have spent a couple of hours looking at various solutions. The long and the short of it is: No, sorry. There isn't any way short of getting third party software for visually impaired - I am sure your user would not like that. I suggest play with colors and try to get as high a contrast as you can get.

The again, there may be a solution lerking out there that I have not found.

Thanks for the replies. I'm saying NO to the requestor. Not visually impaired, just, well...impaired. lol

Thanks again :)
