Hi everyone,

I have Word 2000 running on a Windows 98 machine and my problem is when I type a line of text or a word and I then press enter for the next line, the cursor moves to the end of the document page (bottom of page). I have tried setting all options to default and quitting and reloading Word 2000, but it does not help.

Can you please help?
Thanks...

Hi Jaigar,

Open a brand new document and then select Format Paragraph from the menu, and check the Spacing area of the Paragraph window which should show:-
Before: 0,
After 0,
Line Spacing "Single",
and At: blank.

If this is the case then I am not much use to you.

I suspact you may find if you set these boxes to these value then this document will then be OK.

If I am correct so far then select Format Style to show the Style window, then select the Normal style and check its description, which should show Before or After spacing if there is any. If the description shows Before or After Spacing then select Modify, Format, Paragraph and fix the spacings. Then select OK. At the Modify Style window click in the Update Template box and then click OK. At the Style window click on Apply.

This should update your Normal style. Try opening a new document and see if it is OK - hopefully it will be!

If You have some documents with the unwanted spacing then opening them and making the same changes should fix things.

Good Luck!

Good Luck!

Hey Peter Moran,

I have tried your suggestion and all of my settings are exact to yours.

Thank all the same...

Hi Jaigar,

Sounds like some odd setting, although I can't say I've heard of it before. Reinstalling Word does not, unfortunately, reset everything. Take a look at The Office Experts Troubleshooting Section (particularly Step 5) and see if that helps at all.

Enjoy,
Tony
